After a disastrous 1st round which saw one DNS and one 3rd in class the team headed to Brands to compete in round 2 of the high profile Dunlop Motorsport News Saloon Car Championship. With a fresh outlook and repaired KAD 5 speed development gearbox spirits were high for a large collection of points and a good result.
After a few sighting laps to bed in new slicks the lap times started coming down but on lap 8 of official qualifying our KAD powered unit came to a halt. On inspection back in the paddock it became clear the two bolts that mount the crankshaft sensor bracket had sheered.

This fault also coincided with a harsh vibration, however the team set to and with just minutes in hand repaired the mount. A qualifying time of 54.1 put our Clubman 2nd in class to a high spec Peugeot that with a somewhat inexperienced driver would be a problem to beat.
However as the race got underway he soon put his car into the tyre wall at Clearways with an overzealous manouver which resulted in our car winning the class. At last tenacity had paid off.
The vibration also coincided with our clutch not disengaging but as all our DMN rounds are rolling starts this would just be a small annoyance.
Another class win was achieved and at last our points started to amassed.
We now look forward to contesting round 3 of the SEMSEC Sports and Saloons Championship at Lydden on the 15th May. We hope to see you there…
